Penicaro said,“We were outside the Converse store when we suddenly heard some bursts, and a second later we stopped and saw ‘pop’ and sparks splashing like they were in front of us.”
Kimberly Blakey also took her young daughter shopping in Oteris,
she said that when she fled with her daughter,two bullets through the door,“My daughter and I were there when shooting started and people were running for their lives and my car was hit by two bullets. Thankfully, people are okay.”
Another witness said his sister worked in the emergency room,she said she had never seen such a bloody scene in her career,an 11-year-old girl died at the scene.
“There was an 11-year-old girl who died on the spot. I saw at least six other people dead and wounded.”
The gunman is understood to have fired at least 100 shots at the scene,causing chaos at the mall.
Max Weiss was just 18 years old and was working in a shopping center at the time.
He said the gunfire lasted for more than three minutes, and the gunman almost didn’t stop until he killed everyone.
After hearing someone yell, “There’s a shooter,”he and the rest of the store’s employees locked the front door and took refuge in a storage room.
“There was a mixture of tension, anxiety and fear,” he said.
After hiding for about two hours, police stormed the store and rescued them.
Payton, 35, was shopping inside the H & M store,he said that after the shots rang out, the clerk quickly took him and the rest of the customers into the fitting room and locked it.
When they were freed, he saw “a broken window of the shop and blood on the door,”the ground was littered with discarded sandals and bloodstained clothing.
He said he went to the door and saw several bodies lying in a pool of blood,“I prayed it wasn’t a child, but the body looked like a child and there were some school bags and scattered things around the body. I was devastated.”
A Chinese friend also witnessed the shooting,she wrote in the Little Red Book,“A day after it happened, I had the courage to face what I had experienced yesterday.”
At noon, she and her husband went shopping at the Allen Center, she recalled.
Because of the hot weather, she felt she was “going to heat stroke” and went to the car parked in front of H & M to rest.
Soon after, she woke up exhausted in the gunshot, suddenly excited,the vehicle in front backed out and her husband “quickly followed behind, put his foot on the gas and ran away.”
As the vehicle turned, she took a look to the right,“Saw wearing a black, holding a blunt gun in front of the HM grass kept filling the gun. I don’t know if it’s the soil or the gun. Every time I shoot, I smoke. I was so scared I didn’t even hold my phone and fell under the seat.”
“I got under the passenger seat, and the gunfire went on for a minute or two, 40 or 50 shots. We did not dare to move, I do not know where the hot runner is, but I know it must not be far from us. I feel like it was the scariest minute or two of my life.”
In the end, the Chinese friend left the scene safely.

Spainhouer, who had studied first aid, did not leave after the police confirmed the all-clear,stay on the scene to help rescue workers with first aid.
