Little Genius has just announced the launch of its flagship children’s smartwatch, the Z9. It comes in two colors, Moon Rock Grey and Cardamom Purple. The special edition Bumblebee collaboration model is also available, starting at a price of 1999 yuan.
The upgrades of the Z9 focus on positioning + safety, health + fitness, and photography. For example, in terms of floor positioning, the Z9 can accurately identify and display the specific floor level and building outline where the child is located, providing precise location information.
In different scenarios such as residential areas, shopping malls, and schools, parents can visually see the exact building and floor where their child is, set smart boundaries, and have a clearer understanding of their child’s location. When the school entrance is crowded, parents can find their child through real-time location sharing.
The hardware changes are relatively minor. The Z9 is almost identical to last year’s Z8 in terms of appearance and software content. The major difference lies in the upgraded safety features and the ability to calculate and assist in location tracking.
For Little Genius, which was already a leader in the children’s smartwatch market, the Z8 explored high-frequency and diverse usage scenarios to meet more needs and find new incremental space, which was indeed a great attempt.
Especially with the introduction of the Z8, the children’s smartwatch market went through a fascinating period of hardware dismantling, dual screens, software positioning, learning support, and expansion for different user groups.
However, the arrival of the Z9 seems more like a return to simplicity. By focusing on safety and setting aside excessive features, it is enough to do the job well.
