Letter of Greetings from Ambassador Xie Feng to Chinese Students in the United States
Dear fellow students,
I have just arrived in the United States to assume my new position as the 12th Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the United States. I am reaching out to you at the earliest opportunity to convey my sincerest greetings and best wishes!
Students studying overseas are always a concern of our motherland. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, you have embarked on a journey of education, displaying the indomitable spirit and self-reliance of Chinese sons and daughters through diligent studies and scientific research. I am proud of all of you.
President Xi Jinping once said, “When the younger generation has ideals, competence, and a sense of responsibility, the country has a future, and the nation has hope.” The realization of the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation relies on the relay efforts of each successive generation of young people.
I am willing to share the aspiration of serving our country with you. Let us promote the spirit of patriotism and the tradition of studying abroad for the benefit of our homeland. By observing the world and embracing it with a love for our motherland, we can contribute to both global development and the construction of our homeland, serving the people and realizing our own value in the journey towards Chinese-style modernization. Let us contribute our wisdom and strength to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
I am willing to build a bridge of communication with you. Every international student is a window through which the world can understand China and a bond that connects the people of China and the United States. At present, China-US relations are facing serious difficulties and challenges. I hope that you, as students with a deep understanding of both Chinese and Western cultures, can tell the story of China, introduce a true China to your American friends, and contribute to mutual understanding and mutually beneficial cooperation.
I am willing to assist you in realizing your dreams of youth. Student life is the most beautiful time in one’s life. I hope that you will make the most of this precious period, facing the world and the future, absorbing knowledge like a sponge, acquiring genuine skills and expertise, constantly improving yourselves. I hope that you will unite and assist one another, strengthen your physical fitness, prioritize safety, and know that both your motherland and your loved ones wish for your health, success in your studies, and the realization of your life goals.
Our motherland will always be the “home” you can rely on, and the embassy will always be the warm “family” that welcomes you. Regardless of the weather, I and my colleagues at the embassy will be there for you, serving as your considerate companions. We will always be ready to listen to your voices and address your concerns, providing assistance in your studies, employment, and the pursuit and fulfillment of your dreams. We are committed to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for you.
Words may fall short, but heartfelt emotions remain. I look forward to meeting and exchanging thoughts with all of you in person as soon as possible!
