Florida Governor DeSantis signed a bill Monday banning Chinese citizens from buying land in the state. DeSantis signed bills SB264, SB846 and SB258.
Starting July 1, 2023, no Chinese citizen, except U.S. citizens and green card holders, will be allowed to purchase or transfer any real estate in Florida.

The main elements of the bill include:
1)From July 1, 2023, no Chinese citizen or entity other than U.S. citizens and green card holders will be allowed to purchase or transfer any real estate in Florida.
2)Exceptions can be made only for property acquired by gift, transfer of debt or court judgment, etc., but must be sold or transferred within two years.
3)Chinese citizens and businesses that already owned real estate and agricultural land in Florida before July 1, 2023, must report to the state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services by January 1, 2024. A fine of $1000 per day is imposed for failure to file the
4)Sellers who sell property to Chinese citizens who are not green card holders after that date will be considered guilty of a first-degree misdemeanor, with a maximum penalty of one year in prison!
5)The purchaser of real property in this state must provide an affidavit certifying that the purchaser is not such person. Such as breach or civil and criminal liability.
6)From July 1, 2023, Chinese people who illegally buy real estate in Florida will be deprived of their property and forced to sell it.
